Shelley Lynn Phillips Breen born 5/1/1969 in Belleville, Illinois
Shelley married her husband, David, a booking agent, on November 23, 1996. They have one daughter, Caroline, and reside in Brentwood, Tennessee.
Breen was born and raised into a Christian family. After moving several times, her family finally settled down in Little Rock, Arkansas. She sang in her school's choir, where, in 7th grade, she performed her first solo, Olivia Newton-John's "I Honestly Love You."
After graduating high school, Breen got a scholarship to Ouachita Baptist University where she majored in vocal performance. At Ouachita she was a member of the Chi Delta women's social club. She hosted gigs at Tiger Tunes, Ouachita's annual variety show, and the Praise Singers, a singing group that travelled across the country putting on concerts. She even auditioned for Truth. Denise Masters came back to their dorm room late one night and told her about her plans to travel around the country and sing with friends Terry Lang and Heather Floyd over that summer. Breen suggested that the trio turned into a quartet, and together they became Say So.
